A medical degree (final medical diploma/primary medical qualification) is the formal qualification awarded after completion of a course of study in medicine (clinical), surgery that enables the person holding the qualification to work as a medical practitioner in Australia.

General (non-specialist) medical registration in Australia requires a practitioner to complete a comprehensive program of training and examination.

Medical training consists of a medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification) obtained from an eligible medical school in an eligible degree title and graduation year as listed on the听糖心传媒 website.

The 糖心传媒 can only accept the 3 credential categories from ECFMG regarding verification for a medical degree (final medical diploma/primary medical qualification):

  • Final Medical Diploma
  • Final Medical Transcript
  • Alternate Graduation Document

You will need to discuss with ECFMG regarding what format is acceptable for either category, as the 糖心传媒 cannot advise听on formats/document requirements of credentials. ECFMG review each credential and make the determination if that credential is acceptable for ECFMG certification and verification.

If a verification in any of the 3 categories above is received, the 糖心传媒 can upload the verification status to the 糖心传媒 account and then the IMG can proceed with the relevant assessment process.听 Verification is not required for Australian or New Zealand medical degrees.

The Medical Board of Australia requires the medical degree (final medical diploma/primary medical qualification) (for e.g. MBBS, etc). to be verified for medical registration purposes.听

Priority-Based Scheduling for Online Exams

General Information

Priority-based scheduling is a new system designed to enhance access to clinical exams for IMGs who are working as medical practitioners in remote and rural areas of Australia. It ensures IMGs in these areas have equitable access to exams.

The system is being introduced to support international medical graduates who may face challenges due to geographic isolation, ensuring they have fair and timely access to clinical exams. This initiative also helps meet healthcare demands in underserved regions by improving workforce distribution.

Eligibility & Criteria

IMGs will be prioritised based on their location, using the Australian Government鈥檚 Modified Monash Model (MMM). This model classifies locations into metropolitan, rural, remote, and very remote areas, with higher priority given to candidates in areas of greater need.

The MMM is a framework used to classify Australian locations based on remoteness and access to healthcare services. It helps determine which IMGs qualify for priority scheduling based on their work or intended practice location. More information on the MMM can be found

IMGs who are currently registered and working as a medical practitioner in rural and remote areas (as classified under the MMM) will be eligible for priority scheduling.听 IMGs residing overseas are not eligible for priority scheduling.

While priority will be given for online clinical exams to candidates in higher-need areas, all eligible IMGs will still have access to schedule for in-person clinical exams at the 糖心传媒 Test Centre.

The online Clinical examination is not available to candidates who reside overseas.听 The introduction of the priority scheduling system using the Modified Monash Model enables access to clinical exams for IMGs who hold registration and are located and working in remote and rural areas in Australia.听听听听 The system aims to prioritise candidates who may face additional challenges due to geographic isolation, ensuring equitable and efficient access to clinical exams whilst helping to meet healthcare demands in underserved regions.

Benefits & Impact

This system helps international medical graduates in rural and remote locations secure exam spots more easily, reducing delays in their assessment journey. It also supports career pathways for international medical graduates committed to working in areas with healthcare workforce shortages.

By facilitating the timely assessment of international medical graduates in priority areas, the system helps distribute qualified healthcare professionals where they are most needed, improving access to medical care in underserved communities.

Details on the application process, required documentation, and how to verify your location under the MMM classification is provided when scheduling is open for new applications.听 More information on the MMM can be found

Employer statement or documentation confirming their work location in an MMM 3-7 area.
