This podcast series is being developed to support International Medical Graduates with their knowledge and understanding of working as doctors in Australia.

We acknowledge that international medical graduates face many challenges in their journeys some of which include difficulties in accessing relevant information related to becoming doctors in Australia which we hope our podcast will go some way to address.

There are currently five episodes in development with a planned sixth episode on cultural safety:

• Episode 1: Professionalism and good medical practice in a changing environment.
• Episode 2: The Australian healthcare system and regulation.
• Episode 3: Patient safety in healthcare.
• Episode 4: Boundaries, workplace safety and dealing with complaints.
• Episode 5: Living and working as a doctor in Australia in rural, remote, and underserved metropolitan health communities.

Many international medical graduates will go on to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, including within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and Aboriginal Medical Services across urban, regional, and remote Australia. A core focus of this podcast series is to support doctors to understand cultural safety, professionalism, and their responsibilities when working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations, and communities.

The series is titled Global Minds and Healing Hands in recognition of the huge and very positive contribution international medical graduates make to the Australian health system.

Episodes will be available for free on the 糖心传媒 website and will be launched on regular podcast provider platforms in early 2027.

• Guest speakers include聽Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander experts and people from diverse backgrounds with a range of expertise聽including clinicians, medical educators, researchers, health services, disability聽experts, health reform and policy leaders, regulation experts,聽and聽the lived experience of聽international medical graduates.

The podcast series covers a range of topics and explores the current issues doctors encounter in their work in the Australian medical system.聽 These were identified as part of our lived experience research with international medical graduates who told us their stories about the challenges they face learning about the unique health system in Australia.聽Topics also align to the chapters of the new edition of the 糖心传媒 publication Good Medical Practice.

In creating this series, we have also drawn on evidence of key issues in the medical profession from policy, the literature and workforce stakeholder input. We also conducted focus groups with international medical graduates and broader stakeholders of international medical graduate pathways to prioritise the podcast topics.
